First Step: Basic Skills Series

A Developmental Transition & Life Skills Program

Designed for the low cognitive functioning Special Needs students that require guided instruction. The First Step Program is built around Four Work Centers that include 40 Subjects with 119 lessons and 354 hands-on Assessable activities. DVD Instructional Video included.

A Mastery-based learning Assessment

Students are assessed using a Mastery-based program that provides Assessment of all 354 Activities for Basic Mastery, Functional Mastery, and Interest. This data can be used to help generate IEPs, goals, and objectives and also to develop career plans and monitor student progress based on actual performance. Reports can also be utilized in data-driven decision making.

This module teaches Students how to Identify and Use Basic Hand Tools. These are skills that will serve them in everyday living and which can help them transition into both Competitive and Assisted Employment in the Real World.

Basic Household Skills are imperative in order for Students to become as Independent as possible. Also, many of these skills are the same skills required to perform real jobs in the real work world.
